How to edit my <unix name>.sourceforge.net site?

Hi, I've opened my Sourceforge.net project and I've tried using the site help on how to edit my site but I just don't understand what to do.
How can I edit the mainpage.html so when someone enter <my project's unix name>.sourceforge.net he sees that page?

Actually it is the index.html, not mainpage.html. Anyway, sourceforge has a great body of documentation and a support forum. It is definitely a better place to ask sourceforge specific questions than here.

Use ftp to upload your site content. Or maybe it's possible via the shell accounts, in case you want to edit something in place.

Project Shell Service

SourceForge.net provides project developers access to a shell server to permit the generation and maintenance of project web content. The project shell server may be accessed interactively using a SSH client.

The following is a list of commonly requested information regarding the project shell service:

* Hostname: shell.sourceforge.net (or shell.sf.net)
* Username: as used to login to the SourceForge.net web site.
* Password: Password authentication is not supported. You must configure a SSH key pair for authentication.
* Project Group Directory: /home/groups/P/PR/PROJECTNAME
* Project Web Directory (root): /home/groups/P/PR/PROJECTNAME/htdocs
* Project Web CGI Script Directory: /home/groups/P/PR/PROJECTNAME/cgi-bin

Please note that PROJECTNAME is the UNIX name of the project, P is the first character in the project UNIX name and PR are the first two characters in the project UNIX name.

Now I don't understand how to use this information to upload my site.
Again I'm asking, what should I do to upload my Index.html?
If they gave me for example a ftp url I knew I should use a ftp client and load the files with it but its says something about shell (which I don't fully know what it is..) so is there some shell client like ftp's?
