Yeah, a lot of people won't believe this I guess, but I think Ron Paul is really America's last chance at getting out of it's debt quagmire. If someone else gets in they're going to sell us all the way down the river. You can tell by the way the other candidates are talking they can't wait to spend that money that no one has anymore. There's a point where the interest on the national debt just eats everything up and we're knocking on the door. The reason Ron Paul does so good on the internet is because that's where the thinkers are located. The tube heads don't know what's going on.

Once Clinton and Obama have bought the Dem tickets, and Guiliani and Huckabee the Rupub's, I have this weird dream that Edwards and Paul will run together as independents, and throw a massive spanner into the works. I can dream!

Well, although I'm from israel Ron Paul sounds very interesting from those videos. I mostly liked the "Ron Paul Supporters' Sidewalk Chalk Constitution" and the Blimp..
So from people who are directly effected, do you feel he's going to win? Do you want him to win?

He's got no chance, because he seems genuinely to oppose corporate hegemony, which means that Fox Media can't allow him to win.

Or perhaps it's because people don't take him seriously for being overly libetarian, and reducing complex issues down to a single document that's 200 years old. This is only slightly better than being overly conservative and reducing complex issues to a collection of documents that are 2000 years old.
Proportional representation can only work if the majority of voters are both trained in and take an interest in national politics, which is why I don't usually vote.

I'll fill in Paul's reply: when you live in a constitutional democracy, then you should either respect the constitution, amend it, or discard it. You shouldn't pay lip service to it while doing end runs around it whenever it's politically expedient.

Long term governance by a libertarian strict constructionist wouldn't be tenable, but a little housecleaning revolution to every now and then may be better than bottling it up until the next time the panem et circusem run out and the mobs break out their torches and pitchforks.

But, yes, I agree that voting is essentially an irrational activity. Your vote just gets cancelled out by Cousin Jethro's, and unless his candidate wins by 1 vote, you wasted your time.

why I think ron paul stands a chance:
because bush made a lot of americans more aware and more involved and ron seems to appeal to everyone that doesn't own a monopoly

why I know he'll lose
because this is america and those who are greedy out weigh those who are constitutional

I can dream too. I'll be voting ron paul for my own reasons. Will you?
I'll also be the first time I've ever voted.. and I'm not getting philisophical about why I should or shouldn't at least I'll have a small piece of mind instead of regretting who I didn't vote for.

after thought, In Australia we have to vote. And I think its a responsibility not a right to vote. I really think america must make everyone vote. One thing I cannot stand is someone crying out their country when they didn't vote and have their say in how it should be governed.

Yeah, and this is how it will always be.

You want to win? Spend more tax dollars!

One final note - Putin doesn't speak much English. But that shouldn't disqualify him. Neither does George W Bush.
