OpenGL question.

Post by trunks14 »

So the OpenGL ARB does not even implement OpenGL?, all they do is to define what OpenGL is and how things are done in OpenGL (AKA define the OpenGL API)? Now I am confused and forgive my noobness on these topics

I don't know, it's just that I expected them to be some 3D guru's and it turns out that when I run OpenGL im actually using Mesa OpenGL, dont take me wrong, I'm just wondering.

Please read the docs found at opengl.org again. If you come to the same conclusion, read again. Maybe you'll notice at some point in time that the (not anymore existing) ARB consists of just 3d gurus from all famous 3d companies. And that Mesa is the software reference implementation by one of those well-known gurus. Otherwise, read again.

Just expect to get answers which will take into account your knowledge of that topic. It's not that I'm just guessing, you said you're a noob - but you also make completely wrong assumptions. Since explaining OpenGL is not really what I want to do here, I suggest you to read the full story, instead of relying on some really strange gossip or whatever your initial posting was based on.

actually that's right, I'd been better off reading it instead of asking here, after all that's how all we computer nerds get our knowledge right. Ok, time to read. I suppose it was just the way you said it, and if you don't understand read again, and then again haha there is a difference between being a noob in X topic and being stupid. But ok, enough E-drama for today.
