Irrlicht regarded at Austin IGC 07

Post by Halifax »

It may be a very small plug, but at least Irrlicht received one, unlike OGRE. You can check out the full conference in written form at this link:

And the specific page referencing Irrlicht on this page:

Damn, branded a "game engine" again.
Oh well, it's publicity I suppose, so I'm not complaining :)

Irrlicht was also mentioned in the interview with Steve Streeting he blogged about yesterday :wink:
BTW: The first link does not work (anymore?) and the Irrlicht link is wrong as it contains a prefixed www. Maybe someone could complain at gamedev.net?

True.

<technical>
It is a subset of the Blender mention. :D

To me it looks more like a typing error than a subset, considering it makes absolutely no sense where they placed it. (Unless something called "Blender OGRE" exists, I mean, who knows?)

Yes, Blender OGRE does in fact exist. OGRE is what Blender uses for its game engine. And Bullet is what Blender uses for physics.

Learn something new everyday, I guess, BlindSide. :D

That's not really true. Blender doesn't use an external graphics engine for its game engine. There once was a project going on to get Ogre into Blender for the game engine but the project is long dead and Blender community is very close with Crystal Space. (see Apricot), so this is where it is going. BlindSide is right, this really just looks like a missing line break. Not that it matters.

Ah, well then that is truly my fault. I was still under the impression that they were trying to integrate OGRE as their realtime graphics renderer.
