Terminology - English help

Post by MasterGod »

I'm writing the documentation of my engine and there's a topic about Terminology which I need help with.
I uses Wiki/Google most of the time but I want a less 'strait forward' explanation and more simple one.
Currently I'm having trouble explaining the term "Renderer". Could you help me with that please?

P.S
The external tester which examine my work (college..) probably has no clue about 3D graphics and to understand what I'm talking about I must explain every "special" term I use such as Renderer so please have that in mind should you decide to help me.

P.P.S
Later on I'll ask about more terms in this thread so watch for it (please..)

Thanks.

simply put: the technology behind what makes colors appear on your screen. You could also define 'drawing' on the computer screen, and then say that a renderer is the device that lets you draw to the screen. :)

Thanks.
I've wrote:
• Renderer: Rendering is the technology behind what makes colors appear on the screen. A Renderer is the device that draws those colors to the screen.
If anyone has a more detailed explanation I'd be glad to hear it.

Well I would say: "A rendering is a graphical visualization of what the renderer processed, and produced."

Thanks, I guess that's pretty enough explanation.
