VSync setting... what does this mean?.(solved)
What does the VSync setting do?, and why is it only usefull in fullscreen mode?.

It will sync the rendering with your display refresh (Vertical sync).
Since in windowed mode, the screen is already being draw (windows, linux, or Mac)
This as to be done because of the way the monitor refresh the screen. The drawing will be "synced" with the start of the monitor refresh.
If it's not "sync" you could see a little flicker. (Because on some frames the display will be for example in the middle of the screen and a new picture will be rendered from there. If you see a flicker, it will only happen when there is a major change on the display (like a strobe light for example or explosions)

yeah, what christian says is right. It will effectively clamp your FPS to 60fps, it your monitors max refresh rate is 60Hz. Unfortunately a fairly small drop in your apps performance will result in the framerate dropping much further, down to 30fps, 15fps, 7fps and so on.
when you're developing your game you're better off having it turned off but when you release the game turn it on.
