Any experience with Game Beep?

Post by ice9 »

I have my eye on these skybox textures over at Game Beep:

I was curious if anyone has any experience with Game Beep? The price seems reasonable, but I am wary of internet merchants without an established history.

Not sure why you'd pay for a skybox of such low quality.... i bet you could easily knock that up in Photoshop yourself!

I'm not an artist, so I certaily couldn't make something comparable to these skybox textures.

I may not be the best judge of quality, but I do know these skybox textures are far superior to anything I've seen that has been offered for free.

+1

twilight17: you should play around for an hour or two in photoshop/GIMP. You'll get it by then, you don't need to be an artist. The bonus is that you can do it in the future, and you'll gain some experience in your image editor

I had to make random planet textures in GIMP for one of my papers. It only took about an hour before I had very nice looking textures. Never used GIMP before as well

You're costing your time pretty cheaply if this looks like a better use of it than splurging $20 on a texture pack.

twilight17 -- can you enlighten me on how I could these on a standard skybox in irrEdit? The skyboxes require six materials (one for each side of the box). Can the starfield just use the same texture for all six materials?

this is what called skydome.
dont create sky box, but create skydome. its a cylinder around your map. you just need one texture for it

gamebeep is a very good company, and not quite used as much as it should. It's similar to turbo squid, only they personally (using a human) go thru an manually approve the sellers uploads so the end user doesnt end up with an unlicensed model. Also It allows sellers to get 75% of there profit (as opposed to ts's 50%). I have two items on there and have bought several other things off of it and have always had great expiriences.
