Nun Chuck!

Post by Lonesome Ducky »

Behold my first game in Irrlicht, Nun Chuck!

The objective in the game is to shoot the nun as far as you can. Hitting trampolines and explosives will get your farther, but spikes will stop you instantly. Highscores aren't working yet, but they will be soon.

Controls:
Up & Down: Change launch angle
Space: Launch
Left & Right: Scroll Camera
R: Recenter Camera
C: Change Camera View

Oh no, not another one of those games!

Ok review time, not bad! 5/5,

If I had to make some nagging comments purely for the sake of criticism I would say:

- Try to make the ninja appear on the crossbow thing before he launches.
- Some lighting, although it still looks very nice either way (Might look worse with lighting, who knows?)
- Tweak the particle emmitter, would look nicer if it was coming out of his behind rather than his head.
- Oh holy **** is that a Nun!? Oh Nun Chuck... hahaha wonderful.
- When the Nun slows to the ground, if she doesn't hit anything like spikes, etc, it acts a bit funny, jumps a bit too much and rotates in all directions. Adding some kind of epsilon to the minimum jump height or something might help, increase it by a cm or 2.

Cheers, oh yeah, simple drop shadow or something under the nun would look nice, specially because it makes it easier to judge for the viewer how far she is from the ground.

I almost ashamed to say it, but this is additively fun! Now I need to go off and do some penance.

Best Distance: 2478

Yeah it's fun.

Some suggestions:

- Zoom out if the flying man is out of the screen
- Add more details like trees or objects in the background
- Change the angle automatically and let the user stop it -> not so easy to determine the right angle for the hightest distance.

That's a nice little game you got there! Good work.
My best distance so far is 4633.

Some notes:
The power meter seems to get stuck sometimes. I mean, it doesn't move back and forth anymore.

It would look cool if the nun was a physics ragdoll. You should look into that.

Only, if you really, REALLY want it. It's pretty ugly.

Oh and best distance so far: 16,000,000
If you shoot at a really low angle and get really fast, there is a glitch
