Irredit tough on memory?

Post by 3DModelerMan »

Is Irredit tough on memory? I get blue screens of death alot more while working in it than anything else. Am I missing something or do I need more memory? I've got 1GB now.
That would be illogical captain...

maybe you are just loading a very large amount of graphics into it???

(I've used it no problem with 512 Mb)

or maybe your BSOD is nothing to do with memory usage... have you looked in task manager to see exactly how much memory is used by it?

Yeah I've used IrrEdit and continue to use it, it's not tough on memory, it simply saves the 3D attributed to an *.irr (which is an xml file) which is parsed and run into your application - if you're talking about the editor it's-self then no, that is also fine for me.

As aforementioned, check the memory usage - but that shouldn't give you the BSOD I would imagine you have some hardware or software (OS specific) problems and suggest you look into that BSoD is a common hacker type attack (I am a C|EH certified Ethical Hacker) and have come across this frequently - always remember, secure your machine before you use it! but it could be numerouse issues.

P.S look into the error code you get.

A hacker causing a bsod would be the worst one I ever seen.

BSoD are the result of bad drivers or bad hardware. Maybe you could try running a memtest.

The fact that there are "hackers" that somehow manage to produce a bsod on the target machine doesn't make them less worse.

Bsod ends the attack immediately. And of course the hacker could just pop up a window saying "haha you got hacked"... well in my sense of hacking the trick is to not let someone notice that their system is being hacked.

That's not the point, my point was to not rule this out as a potential reason.

More akin to cracking than hacking and closer to the script kiddie level anyway... That type of attack is so unlikely versus a bad app (including dll), that I'll blame the app/drivers for now
