I'm here to tell you all about my new projickt. it is called "open sewer", and it is an open source remake of the most best game ever, "sewer shark"! you might remember it from the greatest console of all times, the sega CD. Featuring intense excitement and excruciating fun, this massively multiplayer fmv (full motion video) game is going to revolutionize the gaming industry! NOW! I have no game making experience myself so I need a full team who has lots of experience and is willing to work for no pay, but we will be making millions in royalties so hurry up and join my projict, OK?.

LOL, sorry but NO.

Am I right to think that all you have is an idea to make a remake of some old game ?

BTW, thanks for the good laugh :D

For starters Guest, you can't expect people to join when all you have is an idea. All i used to have was an idea and people didn't give a crap but now I'm regularly making updates and showing that my idea may just work. Sure it has a long way to go but it's a start. Show us something. Then maybe we'll be interested. A website, artwork, anything...

Good luck anyhow... Can always do with more open source games...

PS. No offence and all but I can see where Warui is coming from...

Especially, if it's not his original idea.

Try setting up a website somewhere showing what you plan to take from the original, what you plan to improve upon and what new idea's you have. As of now I don't even know what genre it is.

As for revolutionising the game industry, remaking an old game isn't too likely to do that :) You would be extremely lucky to revolutionise the open source game dev community, let alone the whole industry. Last game I can remember that truely revolutionised the game industry was Quake.

Nice joke, reminds me of the Flipcode.com help wanted forums.

MMOFMV game... you made fall off my chair laughing. Now, you need to come back and yell at everyone for poking holes in your idea to give it the true Flipcode flavor.
Crud, how do I do this again?

Alright...First off...
How do you expect to make millions in royalties? I'm 99.999999999999% sure that Sega does not want to pay to produce and market a remake of a game they already did.
In addition to that, if you decide to sell your game independently...I think it's called "theft of intellectual property", and you could get sued for that...or am I mistaken?

Second of all,
I hardly doubt that anyone will want to join your team, because
A) We live in the real world, and
B) You provided virtually no information whatsoever about the actual project, just an Idea of what you want to remake.

Thridly....
You said you had no actual game experience...How do you expect people to join an inexperienced person in hopes of money?

In spite of that, it gave me a good laugh, so at least you did something

PS: Sorry to be so cruel, but really...what did you expect?
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.

A good laugh? I mean really - has anyone ever played sewer shark or the sega CD? I sure have not, but from what I hear, they were both bad. really bad. 'open sewer'? get real, this project stinks!
