Ubuntu 9.10 not shutting down properly.

So I just updated to Ubuntu 9.10, and every time I go to shut down my system it goes throught normal shut down then when it gets to the part where theres lines of text with an asterisk and then the rest of it. It says something about an error with the I/O system and waits there until I do Alt-SysRq-B. To restart and boot into windows to shut down. How can I fix this?
