What shader do you recommend for this game?

Post by almondega »

Hi folks, i'm trying to make a game like this one in the screenshot, just for hobby and to learn irr and a little about shaders.

but, i'm dont know much about shader and the todays best quality shaders

i know about the cel/toon shader, and want to know if you recommend another one to get a style like this one:

not exactly this graphic in the screenshot, but a nice shader for this style of game

any tips will be appreciated
thanks

edit: this is a playstation one game, 3d environment with sprites. my game will be fully 3D, and i want to know what could be a nice shader to use in this type of game.

i think this picture has absolutely no shader on it XD
the characters are sprites, and the shadows are drawn by the drawer, not by the engine.
the environment has no light as i see

Yeah, what B@z said. It looks like the environment might be a 3D scene/render but that is about it.

even if you wanna make your character in full 3d, you still don't need a shader it's just how you deal with your textures. check out torchlight they didn't use any shader but still look pretty cartoony.

i know its not a full 3D game with shaders u_u
its a game for playstation one, my god
what i want to know is your opinion, to a game with this style, what is a good shader to use

gotcha ;) ?
check out torchlight they didn't use any shader but still look pretty cartoony.
that kind of answer i'm looking at :)
they don't user shader o_o ?
amazing
but i can't work on textures right now, since i'm using downloaded models
so a shader will be a good choise ;)

maybe i'll use cel shader, didn't found any others to get a good fantasy style graphic

Shaders don't magically make your game look good. There's no single "make my game beautiful"-shader :)

i know guys..
i'm not asking for a magic beautiful solution
just asking what could be a good shader, or a collection of known shaders to use, the basic ones, like cel and stuffs..

just your opinion

cel shading sometimes might look ugly but again, it still depends on your textures because it alters the colors information from your textures.

I suppose these are the styles that you prefer?
