'X' format models?

Post by hotmitts »

I have downloaded some models with an Irrlicht game demo, which appear to be in a format called simply 'x'. I tried loading them in Blender as Direct X format (I think this was also called 'x' format) , but no go ?

Anyone familiar with the format?

Reason I ask is that I was thinking of offering modelling or texture help to the guy who made the game demo, but he's not been on the forum recently to ask .

as far as i know you can only export your model into .x format and can't import it into any software. correct me if i'm wrong.

.X is usually the Direct X format. But export/import just do not work always when working with 3d models. Different tools have different features and they might not handle the format the same. In case of .X files the first test is usually checking if it loads in the .X viewer in the DirectX SDK. If it doesn't work there, then it's broken. If it does work there then maybe the Blender importer has a problem.
