I'm looking for a good book talking about c++ programming techniques, not necessarily going over specific code, talking about different ways to approach different scenarios. More over I'm looking for a book that will allow me to evaluate different engine structures.
I've looked around quite a bit and am leaning towards this book
http://www.amazon.com/Game-Engine-Archi ... pd_sim_b_7
The description and preview look almost exactly what I'm looking for, the reason I haven't purchased it yet is because the book is almost 6 years old and reading various comments say it's lacking in a few key areas such as multi-threading design structures. I may just need to wait until may 2014 for the 2nd edition of this book to be released.
Anyone had their hands on a good book lately? :)
edit: A book focused around C++ Design Patterns (Creational, Behavioral, and Structural) sounds exactly like the type of thing I need to be reading up on, this wiki has a good wealth of knowledge, is quick, and concise. http://content.gpwiki.org/index.php/Design_patterns
Has anyone seen a book focused around that knowledge?
