Irrlicht Community Contest

Post by Armen138 »

Its been a while ago since there was an Irrlicht Community Contest, and i bet a lot of you
could use a little distraction from your 'usual' projects... the contest on gamedev.net(http://www.gamedev.net/community/contest/4e4/)might
be a little too hard for a lot of ppl here(especially in the artistic sense), so i propose something on a smaller scale.

ok, so here's the terms:

1. deadline is 2 months from now: 21st august 2005
2. there should be a storyline involving the search for one of these long-lost artifacts: the holy grail, the spear of destiny, the map to king solomon's mines, or some piece of jewelry with magical properties.
3. teams of any size are allowed
4. all entries must be released open-source so that we might learn from eachother

not everyone in the irrlicht-community actually uses irrlicht(no, really), so using another
3d engine is allowed.

prizes:
you get a fancy '1st price', '2nd price', or '3rd price' image to put on your website,
and the announcement of your victory could be nice publicity for your regular project :)

judgement:
after all the entries have been received, we will all get a vote :)

if anyone has ideas for prizes or the terms, dont hesitate to post them :)
if you're looking for me, start looking on irc, i'm probably there.

The two contests could easily co-inside with each other, although I suspect a lot of Pirate & Robots will be making cameo appearances.

If using other 3D-Engine, than IrrLicht is allowed,
I think it is not appropirate to call it
"Irrlicht Community Contest". :(

rather you may call it
"Game contest using any 3D engine, under irrlicht community"

I hope you see the 2nd one has the absolutely same meaning as the first, just is more bloated. :?

its a contest for the irrlicht community, no need to change that....
being part of the irrlicht community does not mean you are actually using
irrlicht, it means you are actively participating in discussion about irrlicht,
and following its progress.
if you're looking for me, start looking on irc, i'm probably there.

What the hell is happening with this community? All of sudden, guests are posting everywhere, ranting about whatever they dislike. I'm almost sure that it's a cowardly registered user, could anyone of the admins check that out?
