Planning a fist person game: is IrrLicht *lite* enough?

Hello there,
I am new to Irrlicht but I have used SDL/OpenGL for amateur game programming purposes in the past.

Is Irrlicht 3d engine lite enough for a fast 3d first person game?
Which are its biggest bottlenecks?

I know that modern gfx hardware invites programmers to push everything to the limits...but if somebody (like me at the moment) wants to use just a part of that huge functionalities, how can he get it?

Is there something already available? I have given a look to the ICE framework and to IrrlichtRPG , they are great, but I think that a light version of Irrlicht is not available at the moment.

Do you have any advices?
Perhaps I'll make an Irrlicht LITE framework...

Thank you

Irrlicht is certainly 'lite' enough for your needs, and IMHO, one of it's main strong points. (Lean and clean without skimping on essential functionality).

You could have a look at this framework that uses Irrlicht also:

Moved it back to offtopic since you're not announcing any project; instead you're asking questions. Once you have your project ready or some WIP to show it will belong there.

and please stop flooding the forums posting the same topic in every thread!

i'll define it for you. "lite" means stripped of nagging or unessential functions. best example: kazzaa lite. the entire 2 years it was free, it rocked the world. but when it went legit and asked for your money or your adspace, it stopped being "lite"
