Well don't I feel foolish. The [] operator wouldn't work for me because I have a pointer to a map. It works beautifully once I dereference it first. Thank you all very much for the assistance.

irr::core::map

I'm confused on something.
say I have
map<int, stringc> myMap;

The comments in irrMap.h make it seem like I should be able to do this:
myMap[5] = "Hello";
stringc hello = myMap[5];

but it doesn't work, the operator[] is defined for AccessClass
I searched the source as best I could and I found ...

I don't like seeing people with really cool ideas getting shot down immediately, but I'm going to grasp from my limited knowledge of the subject and let you know why I think this would be a difficult thing for you to set up.

First, to clear one thing up.

to create amazingly realistic 3D models ...

Unfortunately, a Linux version is still a ways off. Apparently Visual Studio is employing some sort of magical enchantment to help draw the scene. I'm going to have to rebuild most of the GUI so I won't expect another update for a few months.

Now that proper Nvidia drivers for Fedora 9 have been released, I've made a couple small changes to the video loader to make it work with OpenGL. (It does seems to run much faster with the software renderer.)

Download source and test avi here: http://mihd.net/80qklit

This needs to be linked with ...

Project Offset

Has anyone else here been amazed by the technical specs of the Offset Engine?

I wish they'd hurry up and put out an interactive demo.

I guess I don't have much else to comment on, just trying to inspire all of the graphics coders out there.

Awesome! I'm really glad you were able to make something potentially useful from this. I'm looking forward to seeing the optimizations you've made. Sending calculations to a shader was a good idea. I've only just begun to learn about realtime shaders. Did you get any UV's laid out? I'm thinking that ...

If I'm not mistaken, the first one is an explicit cast and the second one is directly calling the int constructor and returning an int. I think it's up to your compiler how the explicit cast actually works. Casting float to int shouldn't really matter. I found this example online which demonstrates ...

you just need to handle your own decoding.

I tried a couple of video loaders from the forum and didn't have much success, so I decided to make my own. I'm using libavformat and libavcodec so it should be cross platform, although I've only tested it on windowsXP. (Hooray Fedora 9 came out today ...

That is wonderful! I was hoping someone would take it and fill in where my lack of expertise failed. I was getting 26-29 fps at 0.25 and the specular artifacts aren't too bad. If you take it up to .5 or .75 you clearly start to see the wavy and choppy i was talking about. I still have no clue how to ...

It sounds like you want to generate a terrain mesh using data from a database rather than from a height map. I don't see any reason why you couldn't do that so long as you're up to the challenge of writing the custom scene node to process the data.

Why do you need to use a mysql database? Is the ...

Thanks for the positive feedback! For the moment I am quite finished working on this, but I'm pleased with what was accomplished. I have a lot more to learn about processing triangle mesh data before I can go any further.

Blind Deconvolution?

Has anyone seen, or is willing to share, an implementation of a blind deconvolution filter? I first read about the technique last year but haven't yet found much information describing the process. This website does have a good deal of information: http://www.owlnet.rice.edu/~elec539/Projects99/BACH ...

I thought I'd throw out http://www.fundza.com/
It is primarily a source for learning Pixar's Renderman shaders. Most of the concepts are the same. For the beginner, the documents here provide a very good description of what a shader really does.

Of course a REYES/Raytrace renderer like Prman is ...
