Senior Irrlicht and Blender users : A tutorial suggestion!

Post by MasterBaker »

Hi! At the risk of getting flamed, here goes...

I've been looking at the Irrlicht engine to create a little game of my own. So far, the engine looks great, is easy to use, and does what I need. So far, so good!

However, I've been looking all over the place for a surefire way to do the following: I want to :
- Create an animated mesh
- Add textures to the mesh
- Animate the mesh
- Import the whole thing into Irrlicht and control the animations from there.

Ideally i'd use Blender to model/texture/uvMap/animate because it's free and I love the interface. But so far all my attempts at getting a textured mesh from Blender to Irrlicht have failed. I haven't even tried my luck at animation yet.

So here goes... Could someone do a step by step tutorial showing how to get things done from A to Z?

I think that would give a big boost to Irrlicht if n00bs like me had a foolproof recipe to get things done, ideally using free/open source software.....

Now this isn't some sort of lame "plz do it for me" request. I need this for my project and i'm willing to help to make it happen. I was even thinking about creating a "Blender+Irrlicht for newbies" video tutorial that would start from scratch in Blender and create a simple, animated, textured mesh and load it into IrrEdit. But i need the working "recipe" first!

Any input or help will be appreciated. and i don't mind you telling me I'm a total dumbass who can't use the search function properly. Flame all you want, as long as you provide part or all the solution for what i'm looking for!

thanks!

it is in the tutorial pages irrlicht doesn't matter whether blender or 3d studio max ,if u could export your animated character out of blender int .x and the tex and using the first tutorial in irrlicht(getting started). but if u couldn't make a animated character in blender so search Google!

Here is the Blender tutorials page. It is excellent and will introduce and make you an expert at 3d modeling(in Blender) http://www.blender.org/cms/Tutorials.243.0.html
