3DS max bone problem

Post by Strong99 »

When we export the 3ds Max 9 models to x or 3ds the bones we created are exported as meshes, the meshes still have the bone name but are no longer a bone. Does someone knows the problem or solution?

It'd help if you listed what exporter you used. I'm thinking there's probably an option for 'exporting bones as meshes' but that's all I can think of.

I think you're supposed to hide the bone mesh before exporting it, or not select it or something. it not exporting the animation is a different problem

well i found out that the bones with Panda are exported as meshes not as real bones. The same with exported 3ds.

I get this problem ( bone export as mesh) with panda export too. So I export it to the MilkShape3D (and export as .X if you want from MilkShape3D)
There's something is fantastic, there's nothing is absolute.

If you read panda export readme.txt you can see it does'nt support biped ( it is only support bone)

If you use bipped, you shold export it from MilkShape3D plugin and use (*.ms3d) direct from Irrlicth (Irrlicth support this format)

3DS files don't support skinned animations.

You can get a B3D exporter for Max 6.

If you go to the Microsoft website and get the DirectX SDK, it should install a Max plugin to export to .X, it works a treat :)
