Remaking the irrlicht's fairy
Well since i have some free time i decided to remake this fairy that seems kinda old and creepy
with a new one, i expect more hot than the last one, work so far:
All in high-mid poly for now, work with MakeHuman, Lighwave and some texture paint in Paint Shop Pro. Probably gonna make some clothes with tangent maps, gonna steal the TGM shader again .

Now a low poly version 2.6k triangles. Download below with low poly version half textured, high poly without textures in lwo and obj (i put the licence in creative commons share alike 3.0, dont know if there is a better more open one for 3d content).

Screen of the model running in the engine in the example 08.SpecialFx. Im loading the obj, because the lwo in not working (must be the version).

Remade most of the whole thing since exporting animation from lighwave to irrlicht is a pain in the ass. Now is in Blender. Added in the pack a normal map texture and a specular map.

Working in irrlicht in b3d scene, baked diffuse texture thx to christianclavet. Still a normals problem with gandalf or my model idk, so no dynamic ilumination for now. Package now include
- Blender with rig and walk cycle.
- Textures: Diffuse, Diffuse baked, normal, specular all 2048x2048 png.
- Original models: Low poly, High poly, ultra high poly with armor-details.
- Working with example 15 load irr file.

Some minor adjust in the blender->(x or b3d)->irrlicht, half the res of the textures convert to jpg and its done for the sdk i think.

about time for sydney and the fairy to get some updates ^^
but if you wait a bit longer for makehuman 1.0 Beta1 there will be a lowpoly export function. (still waiting for Alpha3 though -.-)
and for the wings some simple planes with a transparent texture would look good, too. (see-through wings would be awesome ^^)
side note: how about bigger melons? makehuman can do better ._.

Nuu till Beta1 it could be months, besides i can reduce the poly count later, meanwhile i need it model detal. Btw i suck at riggin and animation so it probably will look as a poisoned fairy in the verge of dead of something.

Thats a really good start I would say, and maybe we could improve some other screenshots from the irrlicht main page. Its because I often read irrlicht isnt capable of doing nice graphics, or people ask if irrlicht is capable of doing this or that (graphics). But maybe its because most pictures from the irrlicht main page are really old and crappy, and thats why people think this. Other engines (I dont want to tell names) are in my opinion more worse and poorer than irrlicht, but they know how to set their engine in the "right" spot.
So what do you think about remaking some of the old screenshots (a new webdesign could be fine too)

In this topic I see only great ideas, at first better fairy and now xray ideas with improve (replace) screenshots on website and also improve webdesign Irrlicht is really very good engine, but it's only good for peoples whos use it, other peoples when looking new engine see poor screenshot quality and they think... this engine is bad... so, We should change it
