first sory for the bad english ^^... i'm working in a company that make an education game for kids... and this in our 1st 3d game... and will release in augst
it is the game that teach kids about indonesia..
it tell about indonesian culture, art , city, etc...

but now i' having a problem...
my boss want a model with outline cause we are from 2D games... and turned to 3D... so we want to keep the "toon" orginality ( a model with outline) . for the main character ( the model with ball shape and yellow texture)..
first i think i'll use cel shading... but after that i reliazed that the minimum system requiment doesn't support the shader... ( many of our customer use low performace computer)..
now, can i do the outline without using the shader?
shoud i do it on the model ( using blender ) or by code?

You may try "the old style" cell-shading, where you make a copy of your model mesh in your modelling program and scale it up a bit, set the material (usually black) and invert the nomals. I believe this a good alternative. This doubles the ploy count of your character, which in this case is really simple, so it can be achieved. Using shader gives better result though...
PS: In fact this can all be achieved using Irrlicht code too.
