We finished the Spacework

Post by tefnerk »

HI for all!

We are a young european team called EMBERGEP (it means manmachine): djs, graphic / 2d / 3d designers, developers , etc.

But this is not a special info in this developer forum :)
Okay, so we released our first game: Spacework.

We wanted to create a very polished design-game with clear, steril graphics.
Synthetized world, nothing natural. Controlled machines, robots and spaceships in a future-retro style.

The first trailer of the game:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2MTLyMKqluk

Soon we will create a better trailer about Spacework 1.1

You can find more info here:
http://www.spaceworkgame.com/

Try the demo out!
I hope you will enjoy it!

And don't be shy to buy it, if you like it :D

You can find lots of info about game design, concept, etc on the site. Download it, use it, check it, post it, show it to your friends!
If you have ideas, suggestions, let us know, email us in the Support menu!

Have a good time with Spacework!

I only checked the video so far (wrong OS), but I already like the graphic style and also the music.

Beautiful. This game has the polish and final touches that make a game feel "done" that so many indie projects lack. The simplistic design really brings out a cool feel. The Irrlicht website should showcase the hell out of this.

My only constructive criticism is that the displays with the Spacework logo flash a little fast for me - at first glance it seems like they're glitching out or something.

I can't find the fourth part of the key for the life of me though. Maybe I'm just dumb, but I looked for a good 15 minutes and couldn't find it. :P

It looks pretty good and well polished, but for starters is hard to make it on the game since it lacks of clear objetives and some gameplay guidance...
Loved your GUI btw.

Agreed. Without going to the website, I'd have no clue what I'm supposed to be doing. Maybe some instructions dialog? Now that I have 4 keys, I have no idea what to do with them. :P

Looks really good, but my main computer doesn't run Windows or OSX. Do you plan to release a Linux version? I know it's a pain making both RPMs and .Deb to support the most popular flavours, but Linux lacks games and its users are willing to pay!

Yes, we were in the trouble when we made the demo for this kind of game.
Because it has a very linear story (what was our primary goal of course). Strict as its graphic design.

It's impossible to separate a mission, because there are no submissions. The time-limit,.. it is simply not our style.
Read more about this on the site, if you'd like to.

But after the useful comments we will do this: 1. write more about demo's goal in the demo menu 2. rethink how we can put this in the demo in style...

@bitplane

Sorry, but we don't plan to create a Linux version, because for all of the team members the Linux system is unkown.

it looks polished and complete. very good!

suggestion: for a trailer, you could put more dynamic action scene! There is a spaceship going *plick* *plick* at another enemy space ship, and thats it. Don't you have like "unleash the terror" cannon that blasts half the landscape away? If not, put one in just for the trailer.

Edit: make that spaceship fly faster then 15mph just for the trailer! Its like senior citizen fell asleep in space.
