Screenshot of the Month April-June 2010 [Winner!]
Here is a simulation I've just made in 1 week to illustrate a project I had to do for my engineering school. I'll use this during the oral representation.
It simulate an ion thruster (used by spaceships), and you can enable or not a lot of parameters to see how it's working.
I'm using Irrlicht 1.7 / Irrklang / Newton game dynamics.
I'll post a video later, because a screenshot is not so representative of it, in fact there are a lot of mouvements.
red:electrons
green : Xenon atoms
blue : Xenon ions
blue + glow : Accelerated xenon ions

A couple of questions:
those models look highly detailed, are you using any shader to accelerate the skin calculations?
And
Are you using any frustum wrapping algorithm (LiSPSM, TSM...)for the shadowmapping?
Other than that, congratulations, i wish i could make some screens like that

@Mel
1. Yes, I used normalmap technique. http://irrlicht.sourceforge.net/phpBB2/ ... hp?t=21186
2. PSSM for shadow mapping. http://appsrv.cse.cuhk.edu.hk/~fzhang/pssm_project/
Thanks for question.
