Worlds, an action / adventure / stealth game [Released]
Worlds, an action / adventure / stealth game [Released]
Hello everyone!
My name is Thomas "Mayto" Ducourant, and I'm a game developer as Curious Planet (http://www.curious-planet.com).
Even though Worlds is already listed in the wiki (thank you to the kind person adding it by the way!), I thought it might interest some of you to know more about the game and its development.
So Worlds is an action / adventure / stealth game in which you control Reyk, an Agent of The Order. The Order's main goal is to maintain the equilibrium between the different worlds.
The player visits many strange worlds in which he'll fight enemies, sneak in bases, solve puzzles, help the world's inhabitants, discover new abilities...
Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGjC4rnfXyA
Screenshots:
Worlds has been in development for 7 years and finally got released on March 1st 2016, so it isn't really up-to-date with the latest version of Irrlicht, as it uses version 1.5.2.
If you're curious and want to see what the game looks like, you can download the demo on the official website: http://www.worlds.curious-planet.com
I'd love to get some feedbacks, and to answer any questions you may have.
Thanks!

7 years ago a project announcement post and now second post about project finished. Not a person of many words, are you? ;-)
Congratz on finishing and the trailer looks very good.

Saw the video. Looks really cool. Congratz Mayto!
I think Irrlicht could have an official web shop with games, everyone would benefit with that.
1) - Selling commercial games based on irrlicht, has no conflict with the irrlicht project itself.
2) - Irrlicht developers would have money, to "pay" for their time and efforts. (eg: 50% for the irr project itself, and 50% for the game developer.)
3) - Game developers would have more enthusiasm to develop more and better games.
4) - For the rest of us all (community and players) would be nice to have an irr games page, instead of wasting time in google searching for specific irrlicht games. And maybe buyers could comment and rate the games.
In overall: Everyone would benefict and would attract more people to the community... I can´t see any downside in all of this...
Ubuntu made that, Google (Android) made that, Apple made that... BUT... I could be missing something important , of course... Its just an idea!

@jorgerosa: Thanks for the offer, but not going to do that.
Let's keep the discussion in this thread on Mayto's game :-)
edit: A few posts got removed (by request, just cleaning up thread a little bit)

@CuteAlien Thanks!
To be honest, I forgot that I posted about the game here, and was quite surprise to see that I did when I tried to create an account.
@jorgerosa I guess CuteAlien has said it all!

Re: Worlds, an action / adventure / stealth game [Released]
Woot, congrats on finishing this, I'd never have expected a project to finish 7 years after announcement so that's awesome
Loving the trees in the first screenshot, and the video looks good.
If it gets on steam or gog I might pick it up - I don't really buy games on any other platform anymore, it gets tedious to manage my library if it's on too many separate platforms.

Re: Worlds, an action / adventure / stealth game [Released]
Thanks
The game actually is available on Steam (http://store.steampowered.com/app/304850). Yes, a lot of people tends to buy their games exclusively on one platform, which is understandable really. Video game publishers should get that and stop trying to impose their own platforms, but I digress!

Fantastic!! I could only which for a framework like this to work from!
You've got it all right there! Sound, Collision Detection, Character Animation, Creative Content, the whole thing!
Great Job! Don't stop developing! Do not stop! Wow!!

... and wishlist'd (I sorta decided not to buy more games until I've actually played the ones I have, 83% unplayed is unacceptable).

@Vectrotek Thank you! I'm actually working on a new game, so it doesn't look like I'm going to stop anytime soon.
@aaammmsterdddam Heheh, Steam sales often leads to that

Awesome! Is it available somewhere?
Re: Worlds, an action / adventure / stealth game [Released]
@Mayto
Oh damn, i wrote you a big mail with all the info right after release, but seems you didn't got it Maybe it died in spam folder ? I will try to resend it again if you didn't find it. In brief there were links to the sites where i put info on, for example:
https://www.amigans.net/modules/news/ar ... oryid=2945
https://amigaworld.net/modules/news/art ... oryid=8645
And you also should have some spike of game-buy for about 3 weeks ago (when i made a release about), and at least 10-20 users should buy it in those times
