what I really wanted freelancer to do was make xeffects with a step function that can do shadows per request rather than every frame but it looked complex and hard to do for me. xeffects->render(textureout.jpg); or a way to turn it on/off was the call wanted.
effect->update(); if this is not called every frame or periodically it crashes here for some reason.
