It's amazing, I watched the videos lying down and it was like: Oh, it's like I'm dreaming of playing an airplane gameBrainsaw wrote: Sat Jan 18, 2025 3:39 pm Racing games are the one thing, yes, I have one, but I also created a dogfight game many years ago (trailer on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AbcKy4oLOSw and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWaLIz4ETvA). Unfortunately I somehow lost the whole project on a computer crash some years ago (), but maybe I'll write a new version in the future

Re: In search of a project
It was pretty cool. I had a Java Script course back then, and when I came back home I programmed the game using node.js for the server and JavaScript in the browser for the client. I played it a lot during lunch breaks at my work back then, but someone wanted gamepad support, so I decided to create a new client using Irrlicht. Wasn't that complicated after I got my own WebSocket implementation up and running, and I still use some code created back then (mainly the automatically generated messages).
Re: In search of a project
I think we should make a dota 2, but with our own characters, an online game... by matches... earn money with cosmetics... but my stubbornness that games must run at 8 fps and low resolution makes me question many things... so, if someone wants to make a game with me, he should know that I will block for the game to run at 8 fps and low resolution upscaled.
I have purchased music, about 30 GB, for commercial use for a single game, including sound effects (laser weapons, magic powers, etc.) and ambient music...
I asked Niko in an email for permission to use Irrklang in a commercial game and that after I get income I would pay him... obviously Niko said yes as he is a very humble and generous person...

Re: In search of a project
I thought to leave a post after I slept to curb the excitement. Nevermind.
I have installed WRC9 and played the training tracks and history races. My acceleration button was half down because I know racers are hard and I crash a lot. I'm doing quite well in beginner mode. I think Doom and Half-Life and sorts blinded me a lot. Plus my brain gets to work a little differently.
I really wanted Skies of Verdun to be playable and get some of us together for a monthly meetup to play it. If what you said is true, that's why I can't see it on your site Brainsaw.
If you wondered about my artistic ability...
[web site gone]
I do have some characters I can show.

Re: In search of a project
So when you actually make something playable and looks okay and gives a sense of (or is) fun...
When you sit down and write code or finish a model or have a map tweaked or are in the stage of finishing touches...
When you don't keep writing posts saying how awesome it would be "if this... were possible". (I'm saying I do that)
For those who check out my three games on my site, I can kinda vouche that having a playable game does fill you(-r heart) with a great sense of achievement. My games were just about playable after 6 to 8 months of little bits each day.
I've heard a few developers say coding their game was a lot of fun.

As for 8 FPS, this security video side-by-side comparison. Probably the fairest video I've found.

Still can be seen as movement.

Re: In search of a project
Practically I almost never make money doing technology or similar things, very few times it was like that, so, the only times I finish something is for the short time I get to do something, and for money of course.wizard4 wrote: Sun Jan 19, 2025 10:36 am As for 8 FPS, this security video side-by-side comparison. As I said, I'm finishing my friend's program, but I'm still thinking about the other projects, because I don't stop working in my mind.
I like the 8 FPS, that's because I plan to use sprites and pixelart, it combines well, it would run in any computer... now well, for the games I want to make I don't need irrlicht, I can do it only in c++ and I only, but I am very fond of irrlicht and I like the community, that's why I plan to finish those models with animations and others.
Now, that was my first job to complete, thinking all the time, even sleeping without getting tired, that takes years of working with your neurons and coordinating with them... you get less tired, you sleep better, you have more desire to do things... in neurology it's called neurogenesis.
Now, your drawings are not bad, I think I draw the same or worse with pencil, it is different to draw with vectors and 3d references, I will make you a 3d model of some of them, they are very fun lmao.
By the way, I was just looking at your characters(scrolling back in the url and entering the link) and you wrote me lmao.

mmm... a quick modeling using Aiuni.ai, then it is necessary to retopology, re-texture and animate...

Re: In search of a project
I think it is more convenient that we build ourselves the components for something similar to a raspberry pi, I have a hard time finding the versions with 32 bit processors... I am thinking of reading some electronics to understand how to assemble these boards and their components, for now I know that the components (such as ARM processing) already exist and it is only necessary to buy them and assemble them on a green board... maybe with a soldering iron, I don't know.
To have a comfortable console to play, that games at 8 FPS are really nice at that framerate, that lasts for days on battery alone and does not heat up almost nothing, I would sell it for 250 dollars, and it would cost me about 140. I would just like to make the games and find someone to help me with the idea.
It's easy for me to make the game with an integrated graphics that just displays the pixel colors depending on the pixel coordinates of the files in the game while the logic is processed by the CPU, i.e. the same thing it does when just displaying the windows or linux desktop... without overloading 100% the card like almost everything modern does, having constant memory errors and reducing the device life...
A kind of GBA with a drop down screen (like a selfie stick)...

Re: In search of a project
He (or she) does look very feminine. I do like it.
I don't draw a lot. I had a time when I did but I need a reason to draw. A friend of mine who I bump into occasionally asks me if I've done any more sketching. Nope. It could be a sign and would be a good hobby to drop so I can focus on on other things. It's the same as electronics. I have a few shoeboxes full of components and chips, wires and tools. I can see I know what too much is. Oops.
I think what I like, and it helps plan C++ projects, is the ability to sketch ideas how a program will work. It doesn't take long, a minute or two, so doesn't zap time. I did things like this...

If a programmer can at least draw basic things of an idea for, say, a level designer, they can communicate better.

Well Noie... We have years, depending on how life goes.
"If I rushed, how do you expect it to turn out dear? A table of delicious food with candles and incense? No, more like a microwave dinner in front of the TV."
