Right (how would you recompile the dll without unzipping the source ??? )

This is a 'Raven BSP' while Irrlicht only loads 'IdSoftware BSP'. It's a similar, but different file format. So either use some bsp tool to convert it, or implement the changes in the bsp loader.

You wouldn't happen to know how to implement those changes? (working on compiling the .dll)

Read and understand the Q3Mesh loader, find a documentation of the raven bsp format and adapt the loader to this format. Cannot sa much more, but it's probably not that hard if you have a good file format description.

I ran Acki's IrrExtensions (looks like a great program) and I believe it gave me a make file (didn't check to see if it wasn't before) I know I can't just run the project file through codeblocks now that it has a good makefile (because I tried it and got about 2 billion error messages) so I guess I have to use Mingw? (there are no additional mingw libraries needed to compile just cd C:/Irrlightsource then jam?

Ok Thanks :)
I looked on your site and found the link to
http://irrlicht.spintz.com/
and downloaded the "DX9 DevPak for Dev-C++"
and it's DirectX9.devpack
I know devpack isn't a extension so I was wondering if it was .zip, or .exe...
(What exactly does IrrEdit mean for the every day programmer, I know it's a map maker (something like GTK radiant), but does it actually help enough to learn how to use it?)

devpak is an extension, basically everything after the last dot is an extension. It's simply a program or library which is used by dev-c++ to install libraries and include files, etc. It should be useable with dev-c++ without problems.

I've looked for the plug-in several times in Google and on the main codeblocks site, I don't see it anywhere. Once I can open the direct X files though I suppose I put them in the same folder as the source then build with codeblocks?

(what does Irr edit mean to the beginner, I know it can edit worlds and view models but is it worth enough to lean it?)

Ok I have looked for a long time for a way to open this .devpacks file and then what to do with it to use it in the irrlicht re compiling of the .dll
Could someone tell me where I can find the codeblocks add on or and if I should even use Direct X (if I need it, or it has advantages). If I need to how do I use the .devpak file with the compile of the irrlicht dll.

I have also been trying to use irr edit as a world editor instead of the original quake III editor. Whenever I tell it to retrieve the map though it says that .irr is not a supported format.

Will it see a .x as a map file if I use it that way? If not what format can I export to use it as a map?

I'm looking for a way to export a map directly from 3D max and I see no my3d format in export as suggested in the mapping with max tutorial.

if you use gcc and windows, you can try this binary http://bitplane.net/dump/temp/Irrlicht- ... n32-gcc.7z
otherwise, compile the latest source from subversion- download and install TortoiseSVN and check out the source from https://svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/irrlicht
