Skyboxes in Irrlicht?

Post by afecelis »

Does Irrlicht have support for skyboxes?

I changed the sky texture in Q3map tutorial for a plain blue jpg and it's showing up tiled by some black lines. How can I make it show up as plai plain plain plain blue? (If no skybox is supported yet).

here's a shot:

If you want it a solid color, there isn't any need for a sky box. Just use:

driver->beginScene(...);

You can change the settings in that to make whatever background color you want :)

and what about skyboxes. Is there support for them?

BTW, disanti, is there a reference with all of Irrlicht's command set in order to familiarize with it?

thnx!

I get those black lines sometimes when i'm using dx8, instead of dx9 or opengl. And not only on a skybox, on about everything.

Yes, Irrlicht supports sky box !!!
Look after "addSkyBoxSceneNode" in the doc...
(you have to set 6 textures there)

No problem ;)

To set the back color use SColor (a, r, g, b)

You have to use SColor(Alpha,Red,Blue,Green)

I believe that it correct but I always seem to get the alpha mixed up. :P

Whoa! Acki and I posted at the exact same time!!! :lol:

h aha ha ha ha! Kewl! You guys "cyber-crashed"

I'm always afraid to use those alpha values. They usually mess things up...baaaaaaaaaadly! You gotta know a lot about sprites, and transparent textures.

would this be ok?

driver->beginScene(255,0,0,255);

or values are set in binary mode? what values should be added for the alpha channel?

more q's!!!!

man! so much info. This engine is f... catchy! I just downloaded yesterday and I can't stop reading and trying and screwing things up!!! :D

cheers!

I don't believe alpha effects the background color, someone correct me if I'm wrong but I've never seen a difference.
