How about being a bit more restrictive about this subforum? I mean there are real projects burried in the depth of this subforum, but no one knows, because the gems are hidden beneath a pile of sloppy and vague "announcements", that never get a follow-up.
The Ogre forum has its Showcase forum, with the requirement to only post there if you actually have something to show. Maybe that's an idea for this subforum too?

Yeah Im 100% with Saturn on this, people should only post stuff when they have something to show, maybe creating a new "Showcase" forum with this requirement alongside this one will ease the progression towards that ideal.

Please, be serious, only *finished* projects? These can be submitted to Niko for integration into the Irrlicht website, but here we can also bear with any kind of planning or production phase.
And having dozens of people posting basically the same also does not make sense, so let's try to keep such kind of posts to those people who already presented at least one full-featured *finished* project in this forum. All the others please keep quiet or restrict yourselves to the constructive and postitive kind of criticism.

a good way to fix this problem is to have two threads, a showcase one, and showcase two. Showcase one is to show off WIP's and Showcase two is only for finished(published, whether it be as freeware, or as commercial) or nearly finished projects. If anyone is part of the 3D gamestudio forums, they know what im talking about, the link to there forum is below if you want to look there for an example:

Wouldn't that preclude you?hybrid wrote:let's try to keep such kind of posts to those people who already presented at least one full-featured *finished* project in this forum.
You don't have to be married to a supermodel to be able to spot a minger.
OK, constructive comment.
Error!st, could I have a look at your design documentation, please? Your user stories, state transition diagrams, test cases, all that sort of stuff. As you said it's a commercial project, you'll have done those first, right?

I posted some information about the project we did with Irrlicht some years ago. It included several hundred pages of documentation (the complete project, not just the Irrlicht part). But I did not post any criticism, either, nor would I really want to.rogerborg wrote:Wouldn't that preclude you?hybrid wrote:let's try to keep such kind of posts to those people who already presented at least one full-featured *finished* project in this forum.
