Impostors ?
Hi any of you ever tried to implement impostors ? I have found an article from gamasutra called "Dynamic 2d Imposters" but don't very get the thing since I don't really get the explanation since I'm not really DX friendly.

he never shared. bitplane stopped sharing sometime after his cloud scenenode and when I asked about it he told me using his code would get me sued. I was like WHAT?! I thought he released that for everyone!FuzzYspo0N wrote:bitplane implemented it already somewhere. just search
I don't think he realised exactly what I was saying at the time but what I do know is I had him on msn for a year when he finally decided to lose touch with the world and remained on away for months only to never be seen again.
Last I knew he was busy with work. I'd poop a golden brick if he responded to this thread within a week. quick one of you weirdos give him a call to fulfill your need to be useful once in your life.
Perhaps he's working for a company that has contractual rights to code he writes.Midnight wrote:he never shared. bitplane stopped sharing sometime after his cloud scenenode and when I asked about it he told me using his code would get me sued. Oh, and dibs on the golden brick.
Not likely he's a load tester he doesn't normally write code for work.Ion Dune wrote:Perhaps he's working for a company that has contractual rights to code he writes.

I'm just bitter because I miss my friend and mentor.
Life sucks.. can I say that without being called an emo?
Damn wound salters yous.
so he is gone on your msn also? The Anaconda wrote:well it certainly wasnt my doing because I wasn't usually awake or home when he was on MSN, so it must have been you that scared him away Midnight
until now I actually thought it might have been just me. now I'm starting to worry about the guy. I sure hope he is working or making babies or something. I hate to think something may have happened to him.
Maybe he switched to ogre and he is too embarrassed to tell anyone.

Actually my impostor thingy is kinda working I say kinda cause he need lot of improvement. Actually I have some model far away in my scene and I should put them in a texture using RTT but the only method I found is create a 2nd camera wich is nearest but doing this the perspective is not the same any clue ?
yeah I havent seen him in a while... last i talked to him I think he was talking about something funny that happened to him at McDonalds (or similar place)Midnight wrote:so he is gone on your msn also? The Anaconda wrote:well it certainly wasnt my doing because I wasn't usually awake or home when he was on MSN, so it must have been you that scared him away Midnight

In bitplanes imposters you could notice that also. I think the trick to fool the eye is to have it actually in your game scene. distract it from the main focus of the eye.Steel Style wrote:Actually my impostor thingy is kinda working I say kinda cause he need lot of improvement. Obviously you're going to want to orient it as best you can. the direction of the player camera if you aren't already. I don't think this can be avoided entirely using rtt. Why rtt anyway? why not take a picture and display a billboard? you could even make a model tool that generates them per model.
Or you could play with the fisheye of the camera. perhaps adjust the cameras focus settings to reach some desired effect. I really haven't a phucking clue. Good Luck!
