I dont understand the terrain

Why every time I move the camera I see that the terrain changes itself?
I was trying the terrain rendering demo of Irrlicht 0.14 (and 0.10).
I am using Windows in 32-bit and Direct3D 9.0c.
I have a video card of, well, previous-previous-generation. is that the case?

@Guest, I know this. thats why i asked if it won't crash or slow down. so i guess it won't, thanks! @Picard, When the user is first run the game I dont want to decide what renderer it'll use or let him choose himself (not from config.ini, its possible that he won't understand what is a renderer or w...

Choosing a Renderer

Hi. I want my game will find the best renderer automatically, so i took the GetDXVersion function from my old DX9.0b sdk. The problem is that it doesnt work (i copied-and pasted it to the game project). thats how i call it: GetDXVersion(&dwDXVersion,0,0). So I was thinking...what happen if the u...

OpenGL is written in C but of course you can use OO with opengl. take irrlicht as an example (and logic). Maybe Jeff didn't use classes so it'll be in C code or for making it less complex (it is online). but i dont think it matter for the learning (it matter in projects). And OpenGL isn't win32+Open...

i used game maker for more than 1 year, and belive me - its a bad idea to put it together with Irrlicht ! here are my reasons: 1) the DLL is GMIrrlicht.dll. the GM thingy destroy the look, less professional i would say. and not everybody would want that you will know they used GM..there is GMIrrlich...

A question about physics engines..

What are physics engines and why should i use them?
i know its something about collisions or something like that, but why is it better to use a physics engine for that instead using just the graphic engine?
and, are physics engines hard to learn or easy?

thanks, pex. :)

i dont understand in frames much, like setFrameNr..
but have you tried setFrameLoop=false;?
and i think that when the frame is >=19, recoil becomes false but the loop is still true. so maybe thats the problem.

i know game maker, but it doesnt render 3d and cant read C++. so i have no idea how you are planning to use gm (game maker) with a C++ engine since you need a DLL for reading and compiling C++. and anyway i dont think there is a way to compile C++ with game maker.... and game maker dont use classes ...
