LGPL :/

Welp, looks like I'll need to create my own audio system then (I don't want yet another dll for my commercial app).

Still, nice job on the library, I wish it (and you) luck.

I'm confused - mainly because the LGPL allows non-free software to use the lib (and hence you can use it for your project).

Secondly, the LGPL is specific to linking with the library - that means you could fashion a static library of some form if you were dead set against using a DLL

Nah, static linking is what triggers it, because then someone can't replace the code. dll, on the other hand, allow this. Anyway, yeah, LGPL is a no deal for me too, sad, I was a supporter of this project :?

Hey hey now keep in mind lgpl still allows me to release cAudio under special licenses if need be. Exactly how horde3d does. Has always i can still give special permission to be used in a commercial product among other things. So no worries now and if enough people want i will revert back to the old license. So comments everyone keep lgpl or not? You decide.

no good deal for me tho...
I didn't try cAudio because of the lack of support for wav and mp3 and I don't want to convert my audios...
so unless it supports wav and mp3 I'll stick with openAL... ;)

apart fron this it's a nice project !!! :)

I have recommented the cAudio source so its easier to read then it was before. Its named cAudio1.6.1-rc << recommented. I have also fixed a bug in the source thats not in the releases that makes stereo audio play at half the speed.

You can find the dl for the new source at

 I thought this is a lib created by you (and some others) !!!
but no, it's just a wrapper, mainly over openAL !!!
so I'm out of this anyways !!!

The cAudio Engine is a c++ wrapper around openal to allow you to get sound and music into your games easily.
First sentence of that section on the web site...

Also, mp3 is proprietary. Might as well use mod, better sound for same compression or better compression for same sound anyway...

Also, are the streams fixed on Windows? Or is that a current issue?

yes, that's where I saw this, but it's not mentioned in this thread here !!! ;)
In this thread it pretends to be an independant lib !!!
