Deferred Shading FTW :) at least, it looks like it.

I am still messing with Spherical Harmonics and HDR. Now i can calculate the spherical harmonics coeficients for an Irradiance Map with a set of lights.

This image has the contributions of 16 lights in the Spherical Harmonics, and 1 direct light. Along with Shadow Mapping, 64 bit RTT rendering, HDR filtering, normal mapping, and automatic tone mapping. If the RTT's had antialiasing, it would be perfect, for a forward render, that is.

We're programmers. Programmers are, in their hearts, architects, and the first thing they want to do when they get to a site is to bulldoze the place flat and build something grand. We're not excited by renovation:tinkering, improving, planting flower beds.

Sudi, your demo did not work for me. The console had an error about the shader syntax and spam about setRenderTarget taking too long http://pastebin.com/uFBUAf75 :?

My computer's specs: http://www.pathogenstudios.com/viewtopic.php?p=48#p48

I'd have tested it on my laptop too but it'd graphics card sucks so much the demo just crashed

Well about the setRenderTarget. i guess your ati card has problems with the texture sizes? just a guess.

Much better =) Looks very nice.

Hmm, I suppose, but this is a very new, high-end card. The example runs fine (200 FPS no problem) and I max all the games I play except GTA4.

There are many articles about crowd rendering. The only drawback is that most of them rely on the hardware skinning. If i recall correctly, there is one in the ShaderX3 book

http://www.ati.com/developer/shaderx/Sh ... ACrowd.pdf

There it is.

I actually like it more that way. It looks less flat.
