12 hours a day isn't too bad, I've done that a few times in my job. It's the programmers who spend like 16 hours a day flat out because the publisher is breathing down your neck I feel sorry for. There's no need either, I recon most people lose any productivity after 11-13 hours. You simply cannot b...

Sai, is there a way of stopping posting links in the off-topic forum? If you could do that then they aren't doing any harm there and I'd think it'd be amusing to see what convos they have next :) Maybe directions to the petrol station, who knows ;) It's straight down the road, 3rd turning on your le...

C++ - An English based programming language. It's probably best if you at least know what commands mean if they were English loop. While, For, If, Not, all in English. Therefore I think it is reasonable for people to learn basic English if only to understand what they are coding. To add to that, mak...

Yeah, the search thing isn't perfect, especially considering the number of posts in the forum now. I think most people are ok with answering the same question again a few times as long as people at least try to find it themselves. Even just a quick scan of the forum section titles to see if anything...

Well, it seems a very one way arguement. So, I'll stick my oar in and make the counter point: If everyone is asking the same question every day then what happens to that one guy who is making an absolutely amazing project but is stuck with this exotic bug? It's lost in the chaff. So whereas it is fa...

Definatly possible, not compatable with Linux which to me isn't acceptable. Irrlicht can support Linux so I think getting a way to do cursor images that is cross platform would be a good idea. I'm having a think about it, I think that it should be possible to create a class like GUICursor or somethi...

Currently there is no way to change the cursor. You can however hack your own cursor by getting an image and clipping it to the cursor position every frame. By doing this however, you will not be able to interact with GUI elements as it will act as though the image is below the cursor, so blocking i...

Hmm, some further debugging is coming up with some strange results. I've put some error checking in there so that I know if the device was dropped, guess what? It wasn't :) This is the code: while ( device->run() ) { driver->beginScene(true, true, irr::video::SColor(255,0,0,0)); guiEnv->drawAll(); d...

Seems not, gave it a crack and it didn't help. You would think it would, do DirectX and Irrlicht run together ( I think the term is same thread ) and so DX can't multitask the driver creation and deletion and have Irrlicht create a new one? I notice that a lot of games I have played have a gap of 2-...

Switching between new devices quickly
It seems Irrlicht really struggles to destroy and create a new device within the flow of the program and I'm not totally sure why. It only happens when switching between two full screen devices. Program just bombs out. If anyone wants a demonstration, then let me know and I'll send you over what I h...

Well, all the tools listed here aren't going to work with Irrlicht since they all export to some higher level shaders. Even if you did manage to find one that exports to the low level shader languages that Irrlicht supports you will probably find it doesn't work yet, according to the docu there are ...

I didn't mean that the systems are better in any way, just that there is no continuity between the EU and US patents so I'd imagine that it'd be thrown out here even if it did get win in the US. Hehe, a scrollbar eh? I'm gonna start one saying that my great ancestor invented the wheel and claim a pa...

Star Wars had the Death Star in psudo 3D art on a control panel in the 70's, so doesn't that mean that Lucas can file a counter suit that he in fact invented displaying a 3D image to a 2D display? Niko lives in Austria and I live in England so I couldn't give a crap. We'll just get the Japanese to d...
